Can anyone please tell me if it is possible to refurbish a front windshield?
I have the original glass and was hoping to reuse it but after cleaning it there is an obvious blemish from what looks like the windshield wipers, there I a distinct mark on the passenger side but there is a slight mark on the passenger side as well, it there any method that someone knows that can make this glass reusable?
I don't know of any type of re-finish technique that can fix those deep scratches. I had the same issue with my presumptively-original windshield. Sometimes you've just got to let go....... You can even buy a new windshield with the Ford inscription stamped in it. Where's Craighurst?

Ya I know just another $299. at Maks, LOL
they are not scratcher but they don't come out without possibly buffing (my thought) I may try a rubbing compound on a drill with a lens
sponge like they use on the acrylic head light lenses?

OH....so Craighurst is in Canada. Yeah I'd say that would make a difference. If you can't fix it, keep in mind the first one lasted 60 years, so it would probably be a good investment for another half century. Let us know what you find.
Of course, it owes nobody anything, just trying to slow down the bleeding of my cash artery!
It is a 56 so its not as easy as if it were flat, I'm sure someone could make one, but its curved.
I will try to buff it first with some kind of compound.
I heard that. The bleeding never stops. I wonder if one of those mobile glass repair outfits could do anything. They're pretty good at fixing blemishes like that. If you end up having to go with a new one, here's the LMC catalog page. it states they sell the 56 shields for $199 also. Good luck. Maybe somebody will chime in who's actually attempted that kind of repair.
You can try BonAmi for light scuffs. GM sells it their own marked container and calls it by name (or at least used to) in TSBs regarding residue build-up, etc. on windshields. Use it and water to make a light paste. Apply and buff buy hand only, a sponge would probably be best. Google glass polishing, there's a lot of info but remember, it's the web. Don't do anything that sounds too crazy... ;-)

Eastwood has a product just for this, its for light wiper marks, that's what I have.
I used regular rubbing compound to take the haze and wiper marks off of a windshield for a '70. Actually made quite a difference even though the piece was really beyond repair. It is worth a shot - be certain to use a spray bottle to keep the surface misted and consider a polishing pad on a buffer tool to speed things along.
This stuff is the shiznit. I used it to take out the wiper scratch marks on my original windshield...just before I broke the windshield and had to buy a new one.
