how hot is too hot on pyro?

Got my guages and dp tuner installed...WOW... All I can say.

What is the normal range for egt on the pyro guage. I have it installed pre turbo.

Ona hard acceleration I will briefly see 1000 degrees on the 80 econo tune. Have not tried 140 race yet... comes down as soon as I take my foot out of it.

Also what does the 80 econo tune do to the tranny. TC seems locked up on decel? is that normal

Thanks for everything

Joe

I mainly tow with my rig, I see 1200* when under heavy load. I think they say 1250* is safe but I would not go much higher than that.

1250 degrees is considered the "red line" for EGT's. You can go higher than that in short bursts, such as drag racing or sled pulling. But you do not want to sustain 1250+ while towing up a mountain pass, otherwise severe engine damage will follow.

As for the T/C lockup, yes that is pretty standard on Jody's tunes. He likes to keep the T/C locked longer than the stock settings.

I agree.. 1250 is the magic number.. but it also depends on where you are reading it..

Ya, When I am towing a hill I will see the EGT get to about 1200 and that is usually my down shifting point then it will stay around 1000-1100 the rest of the way.

I've hit 1500+ with the stock turbo, but now I can barely get over 1200 with the van turbo. This is empty, BTW...

I can tickle 1500*+ (preturbo)without breaking a sweat. The little rice burner next to me gets a little steamed though
