Just curious..I was at the stealers the other day, guy had his F350 in for running rough, while waiting for the part the servcie advisor told him that his K&N filter setup was letting too much dust in, which gummed up some sensor in there somewheres and caused the truck to run bad. They were talking about 300 to replace or whatever.
They are right about the K&N letting to much dust in and dusting out the turbo but there shouldn't be any sensors that it would mess up to my knowledge.
K&N makes a great filter for a gasser. Not good for our diesels. They let in to much crap which can dust your turbo. We have one member that had to replace his engine due to it crapping out because of the poor filtration of the K&N that was on it when he bought his truck.
The dealers right about the K&N and dust, but I don't know of any sensor that would fail because of it. Now the rest of the engine will fail because of dust, but that's another story.
Could I jump in a minute??
Should I not use a K&N in a gasser with a turbo?? we've got a '06 PT Cruiser GT with the High Output 230hp engine with a turbo......I was thinking of installing a K&N but after reading all this about our 7.3s I'm kind of scared....
You should be okay -- a turbo charged PT Cruiser probably pulls a 1/3 of the air a 7.3 does. Have you looked at the turbo in it compared to the one on the 7.3?? LOL....
