Good morning George, Dave, Pat and Doug.

Doug that is one of my favorite topics that you were teaching. Messy work, but it can be fun

I get an hour to teach Salvage and Overhaul. If we taught directly out of the IFSTA manual, overhaul would be 9 hours.

I am assuming that it is the state that says that you have an hour to teach the topic correct ?? It always seems to me that the lesson books go more in depth than what is really needed at times.

The lesson plans that I am provided with from the school tell me it will take an hour. Our Structural Fire Fighting Skills class is 24hrs long. 6hours fire attack, 6 hrs sprinklers and alarms, 3hr Search and Rescue, 3hr Salvage/Overhaul 3hrs ventilation and 3 hrs of small tools. Some is classroom some is practical. Fire attack is 2hrs class and 4 hrs practical.

some of the treaining we have to have as dispatchers can be worse. For epd certification it is a three day class. Not to mention you have to have first aid and cpr certifications. At the college we also have to have training in fire alarm systems, burglar alasrm systems, access control systems, report software, radio technology,an emergency siren system text message system as well.
