tax on miles driven

I don't know if its been memtioned but there is a proposal to put a GPS in all vehiles and have it record the miles we drive so they can tax us. I read a quarter of a penny per mile. The reason, well one of them anyway, is because more fuel effient cars in the future, less gas bought, less income (tax on fuel at the pump) for highway & bridge repair. Tracking us with our cell phone is bad enough, is this ever going to stop, probably NOT!

You are tracked even with your cell off, you have to remove the battery not to be tracked. The newer cell phones you can't take the battery out, I wonder why?

Taxing per mile is a bunch of BS. Now, me thinks that when the the fuel prices were close to $5.00 a gallon the City, County, State and Federal Governments got so used to the tax windfall that they were experiencing they don't want to lose it now that fuel has started to settle down in price these Adam Henry's want that money back and they are going to get it by scraping it off of our A$$es.

I understand that they are now making socks with hand grips just to make it easier on all of us.

I heard about this on Fox News, They are going to start it in a northern state, maybe Oregon?? I forget which one. Every time you fill up the GPS tells pump how many miles you drove and you are charged accordingly. If it works they are going to do it everywhere. If it happens I'm movin to Canada. Hell Canada's where my truck was made, at least she would be back home.

It will never fly..... The cost associated with putting GPS on EVERY car would be so astronomical, not to mention the cost to track every single car. Plus the overload on Satallites and Computers, it would just be too much information. There are alot easier and less expensive ways to cut fuel consumption.

Its not to cut fuel consumption, the reason is because the government is losing money on the hybrid and extremely fuel efficient cars, therefore taxing miles driven on top of fuel. I dont think it will ever happen either. But theres also somethin going on right now in the government that I never thought would happen.... Anythings possible.

well government vehicles already do this.... no stelites involved. my government truck has a fuel key that i have to insert in the pump before i can fill up, it logs exactly what time i am at the pump, what truck i am filling up, the miles on the truck and the gallons used....... its not that hard to do.
