What all needs to be on my truck to support stage 1 injectors.. i have intake and dp.. I am buying a DP tuner. Do i have to worry about turbo, and transmission and head studs and all the other stuff like stage II's?
Are stage ones good to just plug and chug with the stuff i have now? plus a tuner?
you might want to get at least a superduty hpop some tranny work like a tranny cooler a shift kit maybe tc and a turbo your turbo and tranny will eventually go if nothing is done about it
Thats true about the trans, I never think about people having autos since I have a manual. But I believe it is Rosewood who has tranny saver injectors. They keep them just below stage 1's so you dont need tranny work.
just a get trans valve body, possibly an HPOP (barely any difference with 1s), your dptuner tuned for the 1s, D66 (the stock turbo WILL die some day), and you're good to go
intake, exhaust, downpipe, gauges, tuner, and a VB. Baby oil isn't necessary with stage 1's or even 2's but it is a nice upgrade you will benefit from but is not necessary right away. Tranny work should be done if you'd like to save yourself alot of money in the long run. Its either do some preventative maintenance now with a VB and a nice single disk convertor from PI with a nice sized tranny cooler or wait til the thing goes south completely and rebuild the trans for twice as much. I believe CoonhunterJoe has a nice little inexpensive VB mod that works very nice from what I have heard from several users. Maybe PM him. As far as turbo's go, you don't need an upgrade right away either but like the baby oil it is a nice upgrade you will definitely benefit from in the end. It all about what you can afford, but gauges, tuner, intake, exhaust and downpipe are basically mandatory upgrades for any injector sized over stock fuel levels... after that its up to you what you can afford to add on..... and before I forget, an InterCooler is a very nice upgrade
Also, I have never heard of anyone needing headstuds with stage 2's on stock turbo's or even a d66. Not enough boosht to lift the heads with those chargers...... at least I've never heard of it happening

Stock nozzles off of what?...... And Bean is the only one I know of that sells tranny savers. I dont and haven't and haven't seen a tranny saver injector kit from DIY as of yet
BDP holds the 'Tranny Saver' name.
I've done many sets and put together many custom DIY Kits to make 130 - 140cc Stage-1's.
To me, I'd go with the regular 160cc and just burn the chip with lower hp burns. It's cheaper and easier to reburn your chip than to bump the injectors up again.
Stage-1's will eat a stock torque converter if you're on the throttle all the time.

I didn't know you built anything under stage 1's. Why no kit on DIY.com?....

How's the 38r install going by the way Jim?
Cowboy Steve
Steve I am guessing that the reason Jim doesn't have a DIY kit is cause the only difference between a 130 and 160 would be how much you machine off the intensified piston. No change in the kit just a change on the users end.

Makes sense I suppose. Im sure Jim would supply the specs of how much to machine off for this application upon request by a customer seeking tranny savers.
