ah pump is what i was thinking, thanks jkidd_39, kinda late brains asleep im assuming its the 1st of 2 pumps? and t wouldnt need to be changed would it?
correct.. there is a filter inside the fuel tank.. but that doesn't get changed without dropping the tank.
it's a diesel.. if you drive it the engine is dirty as much as you fight it haha.
If you're going to buy a code reader, go for the Auto Enginuity. Much better code reader and most likely cheaper, esp. if you own a lot of fords.
Yes just unplug that plug on the top of the entire brass fitting. I doubt it will do much, but who knows. It honestly sounds like a weak HPOP, stuck plunger on an injector, something. Its getting wayyyyyyy too much fuel somewhere. Do the CPS too just to eliminate that. Someone with a lot more knowledge will check in in the morning. I'm not the best when it comes to diagnosis, but these are all cheap and free checks to start you off with
true, but its the only code reader, remember 3000 or less people in this town, 1 gas station :$ haha ok but is there a screen sock on the pick up line guys? in my moms van, and my old car it would get plugged and cause surging, lack of power, id have to down shift to clutch and rev my car to by pass it...
oh ok, i was more thinking like in the tank, like a fine screen sock thats common on gas vehicles thought maybe it would have the same, though it wouldnt explain the black, shoulda gone with the mechanical engine :P
Lol don't give up on this motor, think of it as a step to appreciation lol. It's gettin late, I'm sure someone will check in in the morning when the smart people wake up lol. Someone with more knowledge than i will check in in the morning
oh forsure, i have it sent to the bb so i get all messages, but i appreciate your help alot! i just want to build my truck up and blow some black smoke and have power, but its all electronical i like to do stuff myself lol, id love to get my hands on a 12 valve still though i like the look of my truck but i think im gonna header for now, thanks
Black smoke means too much fuel. If the tank screen was plugged, it would starve the engine for fuel, not over-fuel it. I think you should be looking at the control part of the fuel system, and the HPOP system, like the others have said.
One more thing. Take the intake tube from the air cleaner off of the turbo and examine the compressor wheel for damage and looseness. It should not move side to side, and especially in-out. Check for oil there too. It should be dry.
Anybody had overfueling from a bad MAP sensor? Or maybe a TPS? Somehow the injectors are putting out too much fuel for the amount of air. It could be a sensor tellilng the computer to put out too much fuel, or the high pressure oil system running away. It sounds like all the injectors are firing, since he doesn't complain of a miss.
alright boys, i changed the filter after it died 4 times from front of shop yard to back of shop! it runs way better, turbo seems sluggish also my heater died? like it doesnt blow anymore? possible fuse? and the code is gone, it runs good tested it out, cheap napa filter ill buy an actual ford for i have a credit there, and hopefully it doesnt happen again or its probley the hpop going so if someone could please tell me the fuse to check for my heater? or is it something else like its warm just doesnt blow any air -30 ourside at times it kinda sucks
