I'll be willing to bet even Mark got a laugh out of that one, then started cussing. Had to love that about him.

Count me in. I kind of like the idea of doing a combo of Dans idea & Marks (farmdad) idea.

I'm still new here, but even when I started my research here I saw Mark's name on a lot of very informative posts. I'm in for either, but I like Cris' idea of splitting the funds between a nice flower arrangement and $ for either the fam or charity.

No... he probably cussed, then laughed
I vote flowers/e-card per Dan's suggestion. I remember my grandmother's funeral and the numerous flower arrangements that were there- it really made a big statement, even to my 14 year old self. Maybe throw in an FTE touch like have a picture of a Ford logo on one of those plastic stakes in the arrangement some place.

After 10 hours on the road and a couple hours sleep I am giddy as heck...AND THIS IS MAKING ME WEEP WITH LAUGHTER.

BTW, Mark asked me about the Semper Fi Fund and was impressed by their dedication and purpose.

Maybe his family will offer some ideas for us to ponder. I like the idea of helping injured service men and women of all branches. They gave so I can have. I think Mark would like that.

I have more than a passing association with the Semper Fi Fund having been a member since shortly after its inception. I can tell you guys that over 93% of all the money collected by Semper Fi goes as grants to injured soldiers. If you want to read about who the fund helps, click here. The fund cuts right through the bureaucracy crap and gets the soldier the money/help they need immediately and with no strings attached. The Semper Fi Fund is a family, just as we are on FTE and RHN.

We could have a Memorial in Mark's name setup at the Semper Fi's website and I would be happy to spearhead the fundraising/laision with the Semper Fi Fund if it would help move things along.

I believe that is the ebst thing we can do is to consult the family. I have known many people who did not want flowers in such situations, but were more inclined to something more lasting like a donation to a useful cause, scholarship fund, charity org, etc.

The best thing we can do to honor Mark is to do something consistent with what his wishes would have been.

Pete you are on target. Separately, you are an honorable and generous group of people. I think if his family reads about the FTE community response to his passing and ideas for his memorial on the forum they will be overwhelmed. I didn't know the man, but am happy to support what ever you all decide.
