46yblock,

The manifold hold downs are polished aluminum and are actually for a bicycle kick stand clamp. I got the idea at work when I saw a few laying on the ground when a kick stand would break and someone replaced it (or stole it off another bike).

Here is a close up of clamp...

Dullchrome,

My Y-Block is a .040 312", "G" heads that have been 'cleaned' up, Clay Smith cam (sorry don't have the specs on hand), Dove roller rockers and the usual stuff (balancing, decking block, etc). Trans is a built C-4 with "C" code servo and Kevlar bands, 2400 stall converter.

Picture of Dove roller rockers

I don't know why, but the pictures I have on here won't load. Had to reload to a different album.

I have an Offenhauser 3-2 intake sitting around. Are the intake passages different sizes on early/later years? These measure 1" X 1 3/4" Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Im building my own 3x2 setup at the moment, so no experience on running it. Take a look at my website.
The next link leads to some info on adjusting these. Also for running them all 3 together or progressive, just the center and above 60% the seconds come in.

About the offy intake, yes there are different sizes. There should be a number on the back. Part number 2726 is for the 1954 239 engines and has smaller ports. Part number 3199 is for the 1955-1956 Y-blocks and has bigger ports. Part number 3199-7 is for 1958-up Y blocks.
I was lucky to find a 3199, but do a proper inspection before using it, look at my website, page 4

59f100, looking nice. I too like the covers, and the gold block as well!

Again, looking at yblockhead"s pic one is something...the hold downs, the perfect length of their studs, tube arangement, etc. For only a couple loose wires it is perfect.

Sorry Arno I couldnt pic up your linked site. This computer needs a tuneup. When I click on an imbedded link it crashes.

dullchrome, if you do a search on this forum and on the forums at y-blocksforever, you'll find lots of information about 3x2.

On this forum, I'd be looking for a user name 286merc (Carl) who runs a 3x2 on his truck. He's from New Hampshire.

You'll probably end up using Holley 94/2100/2110/ECG carbs. Leave the choke plates on the end carbs. Use a progressive linkage. Vacuum advance for your distributor will require drilling and tapping a new vacuum port on the center carb. Use progressive linkage. The idle mixture screws and circuits on the end carbs need to be disabled. You'll need a UniSyn or other multiple vacuum gauge setup to synchronize the end carbs.

For cam, you probably want an Isky E4 or stock 1957 cam or a Mummert 256 cam. You might be able to get John Mummert on the phone and get his advice. His web site is ford-y-blocks.com.

Degree the cam. Ted on y-blocksforever can help with an exact number for how much advance to put into the cam. You can print out a degree wheel on a printer and glue it to a disk of aluminum. PM me if you want that image.

To add to Pauls list, you'll likely need to spend some time learning about power valve options. And if your degree-ing the cam, don't forget possibly re-jetting and of course adjusting the distributor advances.
