An Open or Non-LS will send all the power to the wheel with the least traction.

LS will switch the power over to the wheel with the most traction

Posi or Lockers will send power to both

Ron, Brice is correct except Posi-traction is a limited slip. It is the GM name for limited slip just like Traction-lok or Equa-lok are trade names for Ford limited slip.

I priced out a 2009 F-350 and they have a feature that sounds an awful lot like it fits the description of a "LOCKER".

Only locker I know about is on my John Deere lawn tractor. (on the rear drive wheels)

Ha! They're the same damn thing... the Ford factory LS is seriously a joke. No better than an open diff.

I have to agree with akford351--about one thing. The best four wheel drive system is the JEEP system. I had maybe 7 Grand Cherokees and they were awesome. This was before the LEXUS electric drive motor system, but can you put a snow plow blade on a JEEP or can you pull 10 tons behind a JEEP--suggested answer is NO.

Therefore, if you want 22 feet of sail boat on the Interstate Ocean, best you get a F-350, and remember you know which is best, and then which is AMBIDEXTROUS!
