LOL... I'll bet those Cool-Whip bowls look REALLY "Cool" on your truck...
Sorry -- I had to......
I'm sorry folks, but stacks are tacky as it is -- little booties on them when it rains is downright laughable. I know, I know... Just my (not-so) humble opinion.
In my commercial crab boat, I used to keep a 3 gallon bucket onboard to cap the stack when berthed in my slip. Everytime I fired her up, I had to remember to remove the bucket, otherwise it resulted in melted mess and useless bucket.
So when using a temporary cap, make sure you remember to remove it.
And yes, when it rains hard, it will make it up to certain parts where it can damage the engine. If you've got a horizontal pipe full of water, your engine exhaust will back up...
Guys, I'm sorry, but if I saw a truck parked with a couple buckets on the stacks, I would lose it!!!!! We don't drive friggin' semi trucks for cryin' out loud!!!
Joe, I'm not directing this at you personally, so don't take offense to it...your post just made the thought/rant come to mind.
Begin Rant: why is it that every time there's a thread about stacks, those that don't like them always have to come in and tell everyone they don't like them and for what reason - they're stupid, belong on semi's, tacky, redneck, etc...whatever. Okay, so you don't like them. I don't care. Guess what, this thread is about the guys that do. You don't see me coming into your thread about putting duals on and telling you that duals are only for guys who are to sally to actually man up and put a real exhaust on their diesel truck, in the form of stacks, now do you? No. I respect your opinion on what the style of exhaust you wish to put on your truck. Please respect mine.
End rant.
Thank you, and my apologies to those who's feelings I may have hurt, as I have no intention to cause emotional pain and suffering to a grown person, over a simple exhaust setup.
Jeremy, it's because guys ask about how to keep rain out of 'em, or what happens when it rains, or etc, etc, etc. The answer is that you get friggin' soot water all over your truck and your tow or bed load. People considering stacks need to know that if they get 'em, they'll have to deal with that stuff. I happen to throw in that I think they're silly because I do. More than one poster has said that they wished they had thought about that before hand. And you can't tell me buckets or cool whip tubs on your stacks isn't funny.... It is.
2.5" Stackes on Gassers with the flappers NOW thats funny right there..
It is even funnier when the come up the outside of the truck on a Dodge Dakota. True story. I wish it had been daylight out as I would have taken a picture.
