Rain & Stacks?
 

Now this might be the dumbest question i have thought of on here but i am curious about having stacks and when it rains out. We get some fricken hard rain up here and snow. what happens when the stacks get these in them?

does it just boil and evaporate?

Little black spots happen :) I don't think you can get enough rain to get into the engine. That's why tractors have rain caps.

no i figured it wouldn't get to the motor. so when i put my stacks on i'm gonna have black spots all over my truck??!!

Pretty much it won't be able to fill up all the way up to your turbo so you'll be alright it will just blow the sooty water out and make a mess out of your cab, your truck bed, your sides, your wife as she is getting in, and the cars around you.

should have just bought under the truck exhaust! son of a!

Put some milk jugs over them are they mitres or turn outs?

Stacks with rain or even high humidity makes for a big mess

like said above just put a cap over it...you can get fappers for miters and flat tip ones...dont know about the milk jug tho...kinda light...weigh it down and it will work perfect...i have stacks on my little service truck and they work just fine for me... 2003 7.3 the big one is a pete 379EXHD straight truck

Something along the lines of it to keep them capped but the flappers are just ugly IMHO.

yea they are mitre cut. well at least my trucks BLACK! does the soot wash off ok?

i dont have flappers on the lil service truck and its got miters...if you do the exhaust system has to have lil to no leaks just to make enough pressure to lift the caps...

so do the stacks sound good? they are 6"

I saw an ad for some "Stack Socks" they were covers that went over the stacks. The material looked like the same stuff like Pete uses on his covers. I wonder if this would be a good line for him?

Another trick is to drill a small hole or two at the low point in your pipes. Whatever water gets in will run out, and the small hole (1/8th inch or so) won't be much of an exhaust leak to worry about. You'll still get some soot water all over though. LMAO..... I have a white truck and will be getting a white boat, so no stacks for me. Not that I would've anyway -- I think they're tacky on a pickup. MAYBE turn-outs on a dually long bed, but that's it...

Definitely talk to Pete (F_250) I have dialoged with him about it and I know is close to doing it. :-drink
