hey all,
i got an '03 f350 v-10. 109,000 miles. the engine is misfiring, bad. usually at about 40mph. its so bad that when it starts to miss, the whole truck shakes. when this happens, the abs light flashes on and the speedometer jerks from 40 to 100 and back to 40.
now, this happened when i first bought it last summer. same scenario. no check engine light, then out of nowhere the abs/speedometer problem just stopped, but the misfire continued. so i changed all plugs and a few coils, misfire fixed.
now i'm back to the same thing. no check engine light. i understand the misfire-cop correlation, but what would this have to do with the abs light and wacky speedometer?
my bro-in-law suggested an o2 sensor, but he drives a subuaru, so
It sounds like the ABS issue may be the VSS on top of the rear differential. Related to the misfire? Probably not but stranger things have happened.
I would definitely look into the Vehicle Speed Sensor. Does the tranny slip? I had the VSS go out on me about a year, same symptons ABS light, wacky speedometer and my tranny slipped a lot.. I would replace that sensor, it's only $40 or so. Good Luck
not really. replaced the speed sensor on the rear diff. no change. took it to a mechanic, he had it for a week. said he found a vacuum leak that caused the misfire, and 2 bad o2 sensors. $300 bucks and 1 week later, the misfire is still there, as is the abs light flashing and speedometer going goofy. it all happens at the same time, everything is normal, then as i accelerate up an incline, truck starts missing and the dashboard goes nutso!
i have a 99 f350 v10 same **** with the shaking between 40-45 no lights come on what the hell replaced o2s coil packs and all plugs even fuel filter still does it
