V10 Headers Where to buy?
#16
You should like them Dew. They are much better than the stock setup. If you plan to strip the chrome and paint them get some VHT header paint. Duplicolor bought VHT a while back so the VHT paint is widely available at Napa, Autozone, Advance and etc. I use the SP117 Flat Aluminum but their are other colors available. The VHT lasts longer than Duplicolor's header paint. You can bake the paint on or let the truck heat do it. The paint doesn't stink too bad if you put it in the oven and bake it on.

Let the paint dry completely and then bake it. The bake temp and times are on the can. I've already baked the paint on in the oven in the kitchen and it doesn't stink much at all. At least the women weren't complaining much. The directions say to bake it twice 30 min at 400deg, let cool for 30min and then bake at 600deg for 30min. I usually just bake once at 400deg.

Sounds like a plan. The headers are pretty long to fit in a standard oven anyway. Before you paint them make shure the y-pipe parts slide together at the joints. I had to remove some material so the tubes would slide in ok.
I saw headers getting coated on TV a while back. They use a ceramic paint and dip the headers in it and bake it on. Then they put it in a vibratory tumbler with media to polish it up. Not worth the $300+ for it IMO.

Good point. I didn't even think about the size of these things. They probably won't fit in that oven. Sounds like I'll just have to let my truck bake the paint on. Thanks for the tip on the y-pipe. I'm reppin you for all the help you've given.
