which would you guys go with? all are stainless and all seem to be great quality. i am looking for the least interior resonance as possible. not sure on weather the roush or the roush offroad would be the way to go. not sure how loud the offroad one is. i have had borla and know it sounds good and is not to loud, not much expierence with magnaflow but know a lot of people love it. any and all suggestions appreciated
Out of what you mentioned you have a better chance at cabin drone with the magnaflow than Roush or Borla. Not everyone has the drone but there are some that mention it here and there. I have 2 freinds both with the 5.4 with the full Magnaflow Dual Out and they both have a slight drone around 2000 RPM.
As far as the Roush systems go if I had to pick, I would go with the Off Road. The Roush Legal has some sound but it is only noticeable when you are on the gas. Other than that it is very close to stock from what I have heard. My brother in law ordered the Legal system for his 5.4 and ended up selling it a couple months later so he could get the Off-Road. I could not tell a difference between stock and the Legal system unless the truck was nailed. The Off-Road on the other hand has an awsome sound. Low powerful rumble at idle, mean sound on the gas, and suprisingly quiet at cruise and I did not notice any drone. If you are looking at a Borla system I would go with the Roush since Borla manufactures the Roush systems. If you are looking for just the muffler go with Borla since you cannot buy the Roush muffler sepereate. Hope this helps.
I love my mbrp cat back it sounds great and I can't notice any drone in the cabin.
It's also made with 304ss and bolts to the factory hangers. I have also used mbrp with my diesels and never had one bad thing to say about them. Jason
Go with the ROUSH off-road. I previously had a bassani SISO, but replaced it with a ROUSH off-road duel side exit. The sound is awesome, very throaty while on the gas yet quiet while cruising. Mash the pedal and it roars.
I went with the cat back Magnaflow duals straight out the back w 3.5" tips. Love the sound and get very, very little drone in the cab. Some whe on the gas, but virtually silent when cruising. Going out in front of the rear tires increases probability of drone and be sure the tips extend to just the end of the bumper. If too short the noise will echo back and drone in the cab.
You should take a roush, borla, and magnaflow muffler and weld them all together and see how it sounds. I mean it helps if you cant decide although it might be a little expensive. But if you have decide i'd get a maggie, i got one and really like it.
I just installed a new Borla cat back system. The install took about 45 min total with a lift and torque wrench. The hangers on your truck will be the same. Most important, the 3" pipes sound fantastic on start and acceleration. However, at idle, the sound is a nice throaty growl. The cabin drone is there but not bad. the only time it is slightly annoying is when the truck is downshifting in traffic. Would definitely recommend-got mine from Summit racing.
Personally I think the Stainlessworks systems are the best! They are made from
T-304 Stainless Steel sound & look fantastic! This summer I installed their exhaust on my 2011 Crown Vic! Next year it's the F-150's turn! www.stainlessworks.net !
