The oil is almost certainly from your ccv. It can soften your CAC boots and they can blow off. I do not like any oil in the intake and in the CAC. The ccv re-route is a "must do" IMO!

And I have to agree with ya on the "must do".
Has anyone had ford come back and deny warranty claims because of the re-route?
I have read on here of one guy finding that it was his turbo putting the oil into his intake system, but certainly do the ccv mod if you can. I'd like to do that mod some time when I have the time.
So I pulled the dipstick and found that it seems that there maybe to much oil in the crankcase If the premise is that it should be just above the min level or at the half way mark at most, then I seem to be over loaded.
Sorry for the blurriness of the pic. I rolled the dipstick from side to side on a blue paper towel. This was my third pull of the dipstick. Am I just seeing things?
My understanding is to much oil can cause excessive oil vapors in the crankcase ventilation system, oil aeration and oil leaks.
I also noticed a little oily splatter on the inside of my hood right where the oil filter would sit if it was closed but no leaks or oil in the valley. I'm not sure what is going on...
After doing some running around. I felt under the cac tube that connects to the intake elbow at the front of the motor and I got a good bit of fresh oil on my hands. I think that is where the splatter is coming from (with help from the fan blowing it) which is leaving spots on my oil filter cap, housing, and hood.

I had the same issue with mine, oil spots on the oil filter cap and beyond plus oil under the black boot. take off the boot, clean the oil off the boot and each intake end then spray a coating of hairspray on the inside of the boot where it contacts the intake tubes. Look inside the boot and you will see a ridge on both ends. Make sure the ridge seats in the grooves on both intake tubes. Mine didn't and they leaked oil like yours is doing. Actually, connect the elbow side first then do the other side.
Here is a link to a DIY CCV reroute with oil filter/capture. There are some sponsers that offer a similar for about $300. Have not done it yet myself but this is on my near term list of mods to do (laying pavers in the yard taking priority right now). https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...-pictures.html
Perhaps it maybe more of an emissions thing. Dunno. Thanks for the link EZ-Ford.
If you are interested, I have ccv re-route pics in my gallery. They are not yet organized and I intend to document the installation procedure with the pics (captions), someday ....
