timing marks?

I cant see any timing marks on my harmonic. Are there any cast in that may be painted over? Also, where is the timing pointer suposed to be?

I got a petronix, can I bump the timing up a bit? trying to milk the milage a bit.

I had a balancer which after 3 exams showed no marks and it didnt have a dot for TDC . Even posted about it here or somewhere. After bead blasting they showed up. 10 degrees initial is common. You may be able to get a couple more.

Get some steel wool and WD-40 and scrub the balancer well. Then clean it off with a rag and the WD-40. If you find them, mark TDC, 10 and 20 degrees with some white-out or something, and then check to see if it is still indexed correctly by getting #1 cylinder at TDC on compression.

Both harmonics I have, have a line of timing marks across the pulleys. The timing pointer on my 239s (I have two that are original) is mounted on the bottom two bolts of the waterpumps.

Also, I beleive if you remove your timing cover (front cylinder cover), you will find the timing mark on the crankshaft sprocket - that will then point to where the mark should be located on the harmonic.

Hope that helps!
