I have a 2000 Ford Ranger.I just came back from driving to the store. On the way back,my truck started to beep. Each beep lasted about two seconds.I had my seat belt on,so it wasn't a warning for that.I just bought this truck a week ago,and I haven't gotten too familiar with it yet.I drove it around the block, and noticed that the high beams were on.I'm 6'2",so my knee loves to hit the turn signal lever and knock them on every once in a while.I'm thinking that this beeping is telling me my high beams are on.I made sure they were off,and shut the truck off.I started it back up and took it for another spin around the block.I turned the high beams on,but the truck wouldn't beep.So I don't know.I think it's for the high beams, but i'm not too sure.I'm sure this sounds stupid to ya'll,but i'm a noob,so it's only normal.lol.Thanks in advance for the help.
I had that happen to me before, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was. I know it was something stupid. Now that I think about it, I believe I had left a turn signal on and it started that intermittened beeping. I wouldn't think that it would be the high beams as vehicles are made to be able run with the high beams on. You could be on a back strech of country road and have your high beams on for miles before encountering another car.
My 98 does that from time to time. It has over 200,000 miles on it now so I guess it can beep if it wants to. On my truck, it is the door ajar warning. My problem is in the door latch itself. Spraying the latch in the door (liberally) with WD-40 helps. My dome light comes on every time it beeps as the truck thinks that the door is open. I have installed a toggle switch next to the dome light to shut it off and have a piece of black plastic tape over the red light in the dash.
Here is one possible cause that I remember reading before:
The airbag module does emit a beeping sound to warn you that the airbag light on the dash is burned out. If the airbag light comes on when you first turn the key on, then the warning tone you're hearing is for something else.
Thanks for all the help ya'll.The doors were fully closed,as the door ajar light wasn't on.The turn signals weren't on either. The only thing I can think of is that I have the passenger side airbag shut off.Maybe the beeping is telling me that the airbag is off?Until I figure this out I guess i'm just gonna have to keep telling the truck to shut up and turn the radio up a little louder.lol.
The owners manual covers all that stuff, but I don't really read mine unless I need to know something. I would look in my owners manual for you, but my truck is at my dealers body shop from where my wife rolled it and it's in the glove box.

Yea i'd check it,but my truck didn't come with it.I just went over to my girlfriend's house, and it didn't beep at all.
