First I wanted to say that our 2008 Honda Fit is the 5th Honda that I have owned. I have loved every Honda and never had one in for repair, even the 1996 Honda Accord with 260K+ miles. We have always had great service from Honda until now. I have searched for other people with the same or even similar issue, but have come up empty.
Since about 5500 miles, our '08 Honda Fit's check engine light will illuminate and the vehicle will not accelerate past approximately 3700 rpms. Basically the engine feels like it has a rev limiter set at 3700 rpms.
Four different Honda dealerships have tried 5 different times to repair the problem without any success. Unfortunately, Honda just wants me to keep bringing the vehicle into be repaired over and over again. The closest dealership to us is just over an hour away and it is getting tiresome.
After the fourth attempt, I sent Honda a certified letter to notify that they had one more attempt to repair the vehicle or I would have to file suit against them since they refused to do anything to replace the vehicle.
I am very disappointed in Honda as of right now, especially due to the fact I have been a loyal customer for nearly 20 years.
I wanted to post a video of the problem, but I haven't been able to figure it out. I am going to post one on U-Tube and provide a link if anyone is interested.
Go to FitFreak.net, there is some discussion in the forum about speed stutter and looks like you are not alone. I didn't read through the whole thing but you may find some solutions. Good luck and we have a 91 Crx that is just a whole lot of fun to drive.
Yea ... the code was P2647 ... I actually have posted on Fitfreak ... really frustrating. I actually contacted the owner and business manager and neither have replied at all. At this point it looks like I am going to be filing suit next week. A couple weeks ago I called an attorney in Richmond, VA, John Gayle, who wrote the VA Lemon Law. I gave the dealership several chances to resolve the situation without going to court and it seems that they would rather spend the extra $ in the long run to take care of it. Ugh.
Sounds like the engine is going into "limp home mode" (it will restrict the engine quite severely)
I would suggest it would be due to an error with one of the sensors, or the PCM.
Kind of jumping to conclusions here, but given your location (i.e. salt on the road), I am guessing it could be a post-cat 02 sensor.
Is your car a manual trans or the CVT?
Also I might mention - we don't allow the discussion of legal matters on here (per the guidelines linked in my sig)
Not trying to organize any legal related ... whatever ... just wondering if anyone else may be having the same issues ... sorry if it even sounded close to that ... just describing my frustration with the situation and the fact that it seems that I have no other choice but to resort to filing suit just to get them to own up to the problem. Something to mention though, I had a similar situation back in '97 with Ford dealing with a transmission and they were quick to take care of the issue without any coercion on my part.
I have the Fit Sport - automatic with paddle shifters. They have not really looked at anything dealing with the cat-sensors. Pretty much have been concentrating on the wiring harness, VTEC module, VTEC oil pressure switch and updating/reflashing the software. The thing that really gets me is they keep sending the car home with me without ever road testing the car. I have even asked them if they would keep it and drive it around and they say that there is no need ... I get about 15 minutes away and poof ... problem revisits. Not to mention it is 2 hours to the dealer that I bought it from and an hour and 15 minutes to the nearest dealer, all of which no longer offer loaner vehicles.
That sounds like a bunch of BS. The dealer dosent test drive a car with a DRIVEABILITY problem...unbelieveable. If I were you before you take it to the courts, bring it back where you bought it, demand that a service advisor take a ride with you so that they can see exactly how annoying and unsafe the problem is. If they refuse DEMAND to see the manager or owner (in person, that same day; if they tell you there not in make sure you let them know that you'll wait for them) and find your salesman too, get all involved that should be if they want to keep a longtime Honda owner satisfied. I know that whenever i have had a major problem with a dealer the boss better be willing to be of service or else I make a big scene and make sure that others in the service waiting area know that the management couldn't give a rats a** about my problem. Seems like the dealers that have worked on your car assume that you are an idiot and will listen to the load of BS and go away silently. I still cant believe that they would reflash, change parts and just dump it on you and not drive the gosh darn thing!!!!
Good luck buddy and let us know how you make out with this lemon!!!
Yea, they changed the oil pressure sensor/switch and it lasted about 3 weeks ... it was long enough that I thought they had fixed it and then ... poof.
merc ... It has been difficult to keep my cool, but I am normally not someone who makes scene or even gets my temper up about things. I have asked to see the general manager the last 2 times I have had the car in and both times he "was not there" ... but, I normally just let stuff go and attempt to handle things "nicely" ... thanks for everyone adding their comments ... I have only found 3 other people that have had the same issue with their Fits and one has traded theirs in and the other 2 have been working good since replacing the oil pressure sensor/switch. Who knows, maybe I was the lucky winner of two bad pressure sensors ... lol ... I am just tired of going back and forth with the dealer and Honda. I think I am just going to buy another truck ... the money I save in going back and forth to the dealer will more than pay for the extra gas 8)
My first vehicle. I've driven Glove the Honda Fit for barely a year and it is all that I would actually request. The Fit is sufficiently little to move unquestionably, and adequately huge to Fit nearly anything. There's an explanation it's known as a Fit, people. Fits are awesome on gas, yet this doesn't mean it's an exhausting vehicle to drive. It's entirely enjoyable to drive, and it bodes well on the grounds that these vehicles are utilized in energizing. My vehicle has just around 55k miles, which is amazingly low for 2008, however, it was kept up well so it performs like a champ. I've had no issues yet, however, as I close to 60k I stress over my transmission since so numerous others have issues with their automatics. I'll probably get my trans liquid supplanted early as a sanity check. On the off chance that it was a manual, it'd be wonderful all around. Anyway, I've had no issues, and since it's a Honda, and I don't foresee any significant issues until 100k miles you can visit jdmsportclassics. The astounding vehicle.
