I have a 99 F-250 V-10. It has a slight miss at idle and bad one at 1500 rpm's or so, just before tranny would downshift ( shakes the whole truck).I work for an excavating company so brought it to shop and hooked up their Snap-on computer, the only things that came up were a Misfire (only came up once in a while) and a EVAPCVFault. I wasn't able to find out what EVAPCV meant, anyone know this one and what to do to fix? Could this be my miss? Thanks.
Didn't have any actual code numbers. Check engine light never comes on either. I may need to hook up to computer again when we have more time. What and where is the evap.control valve and would it cause the problem I have? Thanks again.
prevents hydro carbon emissions from reaching the atmosphere.
stores fuel vapors in the evaporative emissions canister (EVAP canister).
returns the stored fuel vapors to the engine during engine operation.
has an evaporative emission test port for test purposes.
The fuel vapors are routed:
from the fuel tank (9002) through the fuel vapor vent valves.
to the evaporative emissions canister (EVAP canister) (9D653) through a vapor line.
to the engine when the evaporative emission canister purge valve (EVAP canister purge valve) (9C915) is opened by the powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650).
The fuel tank pressure sensor:
monitors the pressure levels in the fuel tank.
communicates the pressure reading to the PCM during the OBD II leak test.
The evaporative emissions canister:
is located under the hood on the left inner fender. On motorhome chassis, the evaporative emissions canister is located inside the left frame rail (2 required).
contains activated carbon.
stores fuel vapors.
The fuel tank filler cap:
relieves system pressure above 14 kPa (2 psi).
relieves system vacuum below 3.8 kPa (0.55 psi).
The canister vent solenoid:
seals the evaporative emissions system for the OBD II leak test.
is mounted to the evaporative emissions canister.
is serviced as a separate item.
The evaporative emission canister purge valve:
regulates the purging of the evaporative emissions canister.
If it is pulling codes, it would seem as though the check engine light would be on. I've had misfires where I swore 4th gear was going. A little dielectric grease and the problem was solved.
