i feel kinda dumb right now. i'm replacing a steering shaft on a '97 Expedition 4x2 with the 4.6 and i can't figure out how in the heck it goes in. i got the Dorman replacement shaft and i pulled the old shaft out by removing the couplers at the upper column and the steering gearbox (being careful not to let the wheel spin as to break the clockspring).
but i'm looking at this and i cannot figure out where this piece slides into. i even checked Dorman's website because i was sure i got the wrong part, but it matches up, pic and part number. it looks like the only place this can fit in is actually tack-welded in place. anyone replaced one of these before? if so, could you help me please...with either pics or at least advice? i've tried to slide the shaft out of the slip yoke and i can't, but even if i could, the shape doesn't match up with the replacement so i don't see how it'd work.
i'm gonna look at it again tomorrow (working on this for someone so i need it done tomorrow) and hopefully either i figure it out or someone on here helps me...
