Radiator Drain Plug Replacement
Thought I would share this, as it took me more than a little time to figure out.
I have a 1996 E150 Van, and the outside nut on the drain plug snapped off (fortunately, while I was putting it back it in).
Apparently the Ford part number is FOAZ 8115 A, and the local dealers didn't have one in stock.
I didn't want to try to extract it without having another to put in.
I looked on websites for NAPA, Advance Auto, AutoZone, and O'Reilly. I also called the local stores. None would admit to having such a part.
Some websites claimed that the Dorman 61127 was a replacement. But Dorman's own website said otherwise.
But a local store did have the Dorman part, and it looked to be similar in size, so I took a chance.
I'm happy to report I was able to extract the old plug, and the Dorman part fit perfectly.
I'm guessing that the reason why the automated parts reference systems are confused is that Dorman lists the part as fitting Fords 2005-1983 or such, instead of the other way 'round, but that's just a guess…
Hope this helps someone else.
