Process for Switching to Syn Oil

I'm planning on switching to Rotella Syn oil at my next oil change, but have a quick question about the process of changing from dino to syn. Do I need to drain the dino from the HPOP and replace it with syn?

Thanks,

John J.

I just did a normal oil change when I went to synthetic. Lots of folks do it the same way. It won't hurt anything.

Thanks. That's kind of what I got from reading all of the syn oil threads, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't one of those things that are assumed to be obvious

I just switched over on my last one too. There is no need to drain the hpop as well, remember you still have a qt or so in the oil rails in the head. It will take and oil change or two to get all the dino out, dont worry about some of it still being in there with the syn. just change and go man.
