well this is not a cheery morning. came outside and the interior lights and the cargo lamp were on...nothing will turn them off. At times the Overdrive OFF light flashes, at other times not. Nothing on the speedometer needle most of the time, occasional fluttering on that. And the little airbag indicator light is on at times too.

I checked several fuses and those were all right. Truck is running fine.

Maybe a problem in Relay 1? How would I know if that is bad? Is it hard to pull and put back? Easily available at friendly-local-auto-parts-store?

I gave my local dealer a couple hundred bucks a month ago to put the dash back together right...the trans selector indicator was covered over. He said someone had taken out not just the airbag warning light, but the whole socket, so they replaced those both. The end cap on the trans lever is missing too, someone must have had this same problem before I bought the truck.

thanks y'all

Welcome to FTE Jack, Try spraying your door laches with WD-40. Open and close the doors and repeat. This fixes it most of the time.
I'd look at the VSS sensor for your other problems. It is located in the rear differential. Sometimes just cleaning it will fix it. IF not it is inexpensive to get one.

Like Jim said. If the door ajar light stays on, then you have a switch in the door thats is sticking. The little cap on the end of the shift lever is always coming off, in fact mine is waiting for me to glue it back on. The VSS that Jim mentioned can be found at NAPA under the name ABS sensor. My first thought is the VSS is going or is out. Its on top of the rear end.

I wish it was as simple as a stuck door sensor. I'm leaning towards the relay right now...it was even clicking without the key in at one point today.

I crawled under the pumpkin and looked at the VSS....seemed OK. ? Not sure what all would be entailed in changing it. Seemed like the wire connector went in at a 90 degree angle, one would pull that and then unscrew the sensor, but it is hard to tell with some boots over it and such. I did go ahead and buy one at NAPA since they are cheap ($25ish). But the 'VSS333' they gave me seems different; the wire connector snaps straight in to the top.

I went ahead and bought the VSS and a relay matching the one listed on the fuse/relay list that matched up the most symptoms. As I pulled away from my friendly-local-auto-parts-store, not a single one of the previously mentioned symptoms re-appeared and haven't with another few hours of driving tonight. Once they do at some point I'll try switching out the relay and see what happens.
