electrical gremlim
I checked several fuses and those were all right. Truck is running fine.
Maybe a problem in Relay 1? How would I know if that is bad? Is it hard to pull and put back? Easily available at friendly-local-auto-parts-store?
I gave my local dealer a couple hundred bucks a month ago to put the dash back together right...the trans selector indicator was covered over. He said someone had taken out not just the airbag warning light, but the whole socket, so they replaced those both. The end cap on the trans lever is missing too, someone must have had this same problem before I bought the truck.
thanks y'all

I'd look at the VSS sensor for your other problems. It is located in the rear differential. Sometimes just cleaning it will fix it. IF not it is inexpensive to get one.
I crawled under the pumpkin and looked at the VSS....seemed OK. ? Not sure what all would be entailed in changing it. Seemed like the wire connector went in at a 90 degree angle, one would pull that and then unscrew the sensor, but it is hard to tell with some boots over it and such. I did go ahead and buy one at NAPA since they are cheap ($25ish). But the 'VSS333' they gave me seems different; the wire connector snaps straight in to the top.
I went ahead and bought the VSS and a relay matching the one listed on the fuse/relay list that matched up the most symptoms. As I pulled away from my friendly-local-auto-parts-store, not a single one of the previously mentioned symptoms re-appeared and haven't with another few hours of driving tonight. Once they do at some point I'll try switching out the relay and see what happens.
