im sure codes will show but some wont be exatly for a turbo. maybe a VGT solinoid code if you have enough rust in it. But when i usually test turbos i compair the MGP (manifold Gage Pressure) with the VGTD (variable geometry turbo desired). this is easy to do if you can monitor them. i dont know how you would cause you would need a IDS diagnostic tool. But you load up the truck on a hill WOT and watch the boost. it should be about 21-27 and watch the VGTD. if the VGTD drops to 15% then its a for sure turbo sticking. so when you get it scaned asked if you can monitor PID's (perameter Identification data) to do this test. dont know if any other scan tools will do this i have only worked with IDS at the dealership. good luck
sounds like turbo to me too. if you can't hear it spool down like you use to it's not spinning as fast as it was before. i'd hate to see you change your signature, 125,000 miles and just an egr is outstanding!.

You can still hear it spool down and the engine has plenty of power from about 2600 rpm on up. When the turbo spooled down before it was noisier, perhaps a combination of spooling down and the turbo vanes moving. Now when it spools down you have to listen very close to hear it.
Depending upon how you drive, you might not know anything is even wrong with this unit. Drive it easy and it seems fine, put the pedal down with the engine above 2200 rpm and it seems fine. Its just flat if you put the pedal down hard from a stop and the tranny stays in a lower gear longer and finally shifts abrubtly.
this is probably a stupid question but have you checked your air cleaner. sure sounds like sticking vanes. i saw a thread on here awhile back about tearing the turbos down and cleaning them, maybe someone could put up a link to it?.
my 03 had issues with the IPR, and ICP, it resulted in an engine that intermittently was very sluggish off the line. In my opinion 125k on a stock turbo no mods is not a big deal, sounds like this thing runs pretty much daily? if so and the turbo hasn't stuck til now i don't see why it should all of a sudden start
a turbo concern has nothing to do with the turbo "fins" spinning. it has to do with the "vanes" siezing because of rust. the vanes open or close depending on VGT actuation and allows air flow to the fins. so listening for a spinning bearing of the fins wont say much. the vanes stick in different positions intermittently so it causes all sorts of reactions.

depends on a lot of things, weather, moisture in the air, idel time from owner to owner. its basically how you drive it.

exactly and his drivers have driven it pretty much the same for 125K, if the way they drive or lot rot was an issue it would have reared its head a long time ago
My 05 was shifting a little strange back in december turned out to be a back pressure sensor, it also put the boost all over the place. I would see 25 psi at 1200 rpm idling down the street, then later same day couldn't get 20 psi WOT
Whatever the problem was it seems to have cleared itself up and is running fine.
Turbo also seems to have regained the coastdown noise that I remember.
origcharger is Trans. temp stay the same or peging out on hot mine did that and it was trans high pressure sensor mine is having hot restart problems now that i got all the extra oil out of the motor
