Has anyone ever changed the seal on the front diff. where the drive shaft comes in? Is it easy to do yourself or do you recommend having someone else do it?
I think your speaking of the pinion seal. Not a bad job I do recomend gettin all your tools together before you start the job or you will make many trips to the parts store. Ask me how I know. My leak was on the rear tho.
Ya it is the pinion seal. I couldn't for the life of me think of what it is called. Could anyone tell me the process and everything I will need so I won't have to go to the parts house a million time? pictures would be nice too.
Im not sure about the front. I think it should be pretty easy the rear has a crush sleeve and you have to set the depth correctly ot it is problematic. The dana 60 shouldnt have a crush washer so its pretty simple. TIPS
- Mark driveshaft to yoke orientation then remove
- have a 2 or 3 jaw puller on hand for yoke removal
Other than that it should be pretty easy.
That Dana manual helps alot. Would you recommend changing anything else while I'm at it. I noticed that when I take the yolk off I will be able to get to a bearing. but that is about it. I guess I could just check it and grease it.
