I need a new proportioning valve for my 78 f150 4x4, it's got discs up front and drums in the back, I haven't been able to find one anywhere, even the area junkyards turn up nothing since they crushed most of the older stuff when scrap prices went up. Anybody know of another model vehicle with a proportinoning valve that would be interchangeable? --Thanks for the help!

1st - Thanks for the info!
The valve from bronco graveyard sounds like the best bet it's listed in the link for about 60 bucks and the ford parts are running about 200 bucks according to numberdummy's thread. --tractoman- when you put that valve on your supercab did you need to change the fittings on your brakelines or did they match up? also good info in that link on the possibility that it's the rear brakes causing the problem. This will get a little lengthy but I'll run you through the brake job from hell. When I bought the truck the pedal went to the floor, hardly any brakes at all, the mc was leaking and the booster wasn't sucking the pedal down so I replaced both of those and bled the brakes. All seemed well for about the first 30 miles and then the brakes started dragging. They wouldn't drag for the first 10 miles or so ( this probably should've clued me in on it being the valve but it didn't) I started to replace the calipers and rotted front brake hoses and lines only to find that the spindle lock nut had come loose on the drivers side and created a ridiculous amount of metal shavings from rattling around loose and destroyed the hub, so I replaced the wheel bearings, hubs, pads, calipers, and lines. Took it for a test drive and 15 miles later the brakes started dragging again. so now I'm looking for a new valve and need to recut the rotors that are now warped. After reading that link I'm also going to replace the rear wheel cylinders and ensure th pads are ok. If that doesn't work I'm going to start using the truck for target practice to sight in my rifles.
tractoman- the one in your link is listed for up to a 77 bronco part #12564, I looked and they have one for 76-85 ford f150 part #22519 any idea what the difference is? there wasn't a picture of the pro valve listed for the truck.
I won't be much help. Mine was on the truck when I got it. I think it may use adapters for the brake line connections. Call them and they should be able to help.
Good luck.
