~please help~ I have a 1967 F100 v8 352, the transfer block/proportioning valve is locked up and the brakeline connection bolts are all stripped, i think i have to cut to remove (hope not!).......can i splice new lines onto a new valve if i have to cut them, and does anyone know what years/models have compatable valves?
If you have 4 wheel drum brakes it is not a proportional value, your master cyl does that. It is a valve that cuts off a failing brake circuit when pressure becomes unequal between the front and rear brakes. Someone sells these brand new, maybe Macs.
I'm not positive, but doesn't that block just contain a switch that turns on the brake warning light? If it's a dual chamber master cylinder, the front and rear are already isolated.
By "stripped", do you mean that a flare nut wrench can't get a grip on them? Have you tried Visegrips? Try tightening them a little before loosening; that can help break 'em free.
If you can't unscrew the fittings, or they just break off or something... maybe it's time to think about renplacing the brake lines. You can probably get a complete set all prebent, maybe even in stainless if you want to fix it better than new. Or do it cheaper by buying a roll of tubing and bend and flare the lines yourself.
