Can you send me one too - I need to tidy up my equipment. Everything is mounted in a real shaky radio mount usually found in Crown vics.

Overhead Console

I just ordered my F350 V-10 Crewcab XLT sport. I too wanted the overhead console with the trip computer, etc (but I did not want the Lariat). I ordered my truck with a moonroof so it comes with a small console that has the open/close switch for the roof and the on/off map lights. I called my dealer and they said that the wiring harness is there and all I need is the actual part from a lariat. According to them, my module will pop out and the lariat mod will pop in. Simple as that. They haven't given me the price yet, but my sales guy said he will buy it on his discount and just pass it along to me at his cost. I have also ordered the visors from a Excursion with the light up mirrors, extra pull out visor and the built in garage door opener (homelink?). The parts dept said the truck was already wired for that as well?

We shall see. My deliver date is late May, early June. I will let you know what the price is and how it all worked out. I am not too worried though, since the dealer is doing it, it is covered under the factory warranty. They are also putting in heated seats.

Fish,

Welcome to the group. Do let us know how everything turns out. I would like to have the overhead console as well, but, I'm pretty sure the wiring isn't there for it in mine. Will your truck have the temp sensors and other accessories already in it, or will you have to get them extra? Good luck with the new truck, I'm sure you're gonna love it.

JC Whitney '03 truck catalog has overhead consoles for Ford trucks from '73 to '03, thinking about one myself and they are less than $50.

Don't look to bad either.

Overhead Console

Bluehawk,

I picked up the truck on monday and I love it. It rides better than my Expy, has a lower monthly payment, cheaper insurance and is loaded! My dealer is still working on the replacement console. There is some confusion as to how many parts they need to order. The service dept says I only need one (the display) but the parts dept says I need a whole new console? Before I shell out any money, I want to get it straight. As far as I know, I have all of the wiring, but I still need to find out about temp and compass. I am also ordering a drivers side visor from an Excursion so I can get the "homelink" auto garage door opener. The dealer also thinks the wiring is there. I will keep you posted.

Please do. I'm gonna have to press my dealer a little harder to find out more myself. Have to wait till I'm back in town in another week and a half.

Overhead Console

I just got my 03 and also wanted the overhead console on an XLT. I have a good dealer who looked into it and told me that the wiring harness wasn't there to hook it up. I had him put it in anyway, for storage and an aftermarket temp/compass/altimeter unit. He wanted maybe $150.

The dealer also put on an Excursion visor, but again said there was no wiring to power it. I don't care anyway, and don't need an illuminated mirror to stare at my middle-aged face in!

It looks like I can mount the aftermarket temp/altimeter/compass unit up there fine, and can use the rest of the sunglass and garage opener storage for other misc. My beast is too dang tall to fit in my garage anyway!

It looks like there is a difference in the overhead trip computer and the overhead storage compartment. I have a F350 XLT with the moonroof. I want add the trip computer with the outside temp display, Distance to empty and average mileage. Since I have a moon roof, my dealer told me all the wires are there. I also want to add an excersion visor to the drivers side and was also told the wiring is there. My current visor has a light up mirror (from the factory). I want the Excursion kind because it is a dual visor. I was also told the Excursion visor has the garage door opener built in?

I take my truck in for these upgrades in mid July and will keep you posted.
