Hi I got a 1986 F 250, that I picked up for nothing. I put a little work into it, and it has been working out ok for hauling my fire wood.
I checked all the fluids the other day, and I saw the transfer case is low. Does anyone know what kind of fluid it takes. I called the local auto parts, the kid behind the counter told me to refer to the owners manual. (yeah like that is still in the truck) I also have one more question, this is in reguards to the auto transmission. This is the first truck i owned with an AT. When I put it in gear it sometimes takes several seconds (10 -20) until it engages and will start moving. What could it be?
Iwould appreciate any help
Can Do
The transfer case takes Dexron III, IV, or whatever the latest version is. What tranny do you have? Changing the fluid and the filter would be a good start.
Well, the transmission won't fix itself. The number one first thing to do would be to change out the fluid and filter in the transmission. It may make it run better. It may fix it. Or, it may be too late, already. Do you ever hear the pump whining?
