hello,
I have a 2004 ford f150 xlt. I just replaced my brake pads and front left and back right calipers. After replacing this i went for a drive and there is now a new grinding noise. The grinding does not start until about 20MPH and only occurs when i am pushing the gas. the sound doesnt occur when i am going under 20 mph and doesnt work when i am breaking. Does anyone have any suggestions on what this could be?
i have a buddy with same problem mine as well shop figured it out it was the seal for vacum hub in the 4 wdrive or a post on here said check the iwe solenoid
I had this same problem after I replaced my front pads. I took it in and they said there was some safety clip or something rubbing and they put it back and it stopped. Shortly after I had sort of the same grinding noise come back and it ended up being bad bearings in the hub. Replaced the hub and have been noisefree for a few months now.
i have done both my front wheel bearings and it did not stop the grind that is what i thought as well but every repair job can be diff mne are just what happened to my truck for ref
i have an 06 a buddy checked with code reader. c-1979&c1980 came up.iwe solenoid needs replaced. mine would stop making noise when i switch to 4hi and cme back when i go to 2hi. they say the iwe gets wet and contaminates the vaccum to the hubs. the replacement part is of anew design.
yes i have picked up the update and i took of the front wheels started the truck up and the passenger side is free put the drivers side is locked up so my seal is leaking i also checked the vacum 20 lbs from the motor then it splits of to both front seals when i plugged the drivers side i had 20 at the passenger side when i hooked up the drivers side it dropped down to only ten and the new solenoid cost me 27 dollars cdn from ford
Your vaccum solenoids are not working. You need to take it in and get them replaced. This was a warranty issue to where water would drain down the cowl and short out the solenoids. Ford has made the fix.
just last week i took my 04 screw in for a grinding noise from the frontend and both of the front hubs were bad and the motor on the tcase was goin out...so now i have new front hubs, iwe's, and that electric motor on the tcase
I had a smiliar problem only is was this high pitched shrieking/squeeking droning noise. I fixed it by pulling over to the side of the road and made my wife get out of the truck. All was quiet after that.
