i just recently bought a 78 e250. van is in excellent condition, other than the wipers. it has intermitting wipers. and they work when they want. i took the black box apart and re soldiered some of the joints. someone had the box bypassed and they was still wierd worked when they wanted.
so i put it all back together and they only work when they want. sometimes they will not shut off. here is all the numbers off the black box
8z
D5ub 17c476 AA
260 19 B
also need the wiring before the car side plug out. its all hacked up. if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it. i cant drive this thing till i get them fixed because of inspection. just let me no how much in total shipped to 17019. also need the black box. so hopefully it will already be wired into the harness
also the wiper motor makes a popping noise while it is running
The "black box" you refer to is the wiper relay switch. The motor is not the problem if it's running. It dosen't have a switch in it. The switch is on the dash and the relay controls the wiper delay function. The wiring you changed just changed the correct configuration to an incorect one. I also have been looking for the same relay switch recently for my 82. I have one I pulled from a 79 with the same numbers but haven't installed it yet. If you find a source..post it here.
actually it was the motor, even after i found the box and installed it, still had to replace the motor because the park circuit goes bad. but its all fixed now. found the box on ebay for 35 bucks brand new, the new part number is SW-2267
