I will be swapping a idi into a 77 f250 2wd the problem I am having is how to run the clutch. Did the idi ever come with a mechanical clutch in the early years or were they all hydrolic. If they came with a mechanical it will save me a lot of fabrication.

Are you using a 5 speed? I've seen several write ups about adapting hydraulics to the mechanical pedal assy.
Not real sure but I think Ford used manual set ups all the way up to 84. When I firdt got my Bromco I put a carbed 302 in it and a np 435 4speed that was old style. I had to find an 84 or older to get the pedal ***. and linkage from.
You can use the mechanical linkage, just drill/tap the adapter plate (NOT the block) for the pivot, see my gallery for pics. The diesel 4-speed bell has a fork that will work. Depending how you mount the engine you might have to relocate the pivot on the frame.
thanks gofigurethis those are the pics and info i need. With the fork you are just removing the slave and running the fork with the linkage after taping a hole in the side of the trans for the ball pivot?
