Does anyone know which aftermarket product will work for me? Have a 2002 SD 6-speed manual shift Diesel in the Lariat trim (means I have power door locks as standard)...
Want to add a remote start and alarm...I know a few that would work with the older models...even 2001 but the 02 are different and mine's a manual shift too...any help is much appreciated.

The manual for my 01 f150 Lariat indicates problems may result when using a remote starter due to the ignition/computer looking for a valid code from the key(the one with the computer chip in it). The manual did say "may result". So you might want to check into that before spending your money.

You need a "PATS Interface" which is a transmitter and loop antenna which goes around the ignition switch lock cylinder (under the steering column shroud). $31 List from Ford. Most of your aftermarket installers have a similar system. I'm putting in a Ford "Gold" remote start kit which includes upgraded alarm. Its pretty complicated, but I wanted complete compatibility and factory appearance. Instructions say, "Professional Installation Only", but I'm too cheap to pay anybody. The instructions seem good. Here's hoping I don't have my dash apart all summer!

Great question! I too have a 2002 F-350 Lariat PSD with a manual trans. I am having a Clifford Avantguard 4 installed. (I had the Avantguard 3 in a '97 F-350, it was great!) The engineering team at DEI insures me there will be no problems with the integration of the aftermarket alarm with the factory computer. They have sent me an installation manual and it has a section specific to integration with the Ford factory computer.

I should be able to give you the news, good or bad by next week.

Try http://www.bulldogsecurity.com/site.html alot of there systems a diesel ready and reasonably priced. You may have a hard time with the manual tranny though. Andy
