I have a 2006 F250 6.0L and have been plagued by the "Water in Fuel" light. So after doing some research here, I bought a new Fuel Manifold(front plate on the HFCM) and replaced it today. Now the truck runs really rough and has no power. Help.
I think it may have something to do with the DTRM within the HFCM. It fell out while replacing the Manifold. I put it back in as best as I could figure out how it went, but am thinking I may not have gotten it quite right. Is there a trick to it? and.... if someone has an exploded view of the HFCM, that would be great as well.
I did try to follow links to the motorcraft exploded view in previous posts but it requires a login.
it may be that the cover is not seating correctly to seal all the little chambers in the HFCM...pull the cover and check for conflicts between the DTRM and cover..slightly pinch the return line with vice grips for a brief period to see if the condition improves...you may just be pumping fuel back to the tank via the return...
So, I tried pinching off the return line(between engine and HFCM)....no luck.
I think it has to do with the DTRM. The three pieces fell out and seperated while changing the manifold.
The pieces are.... pin(I think I may have this in backwards, but am not sure without some help or an exploded view)...the spring(with its holder and other parts....and the plate with tube that apppears to compress the spring.
The pin is current in with the pointier end pointing out from the center of the truck. This whole mechanism really didnt go back in as smoothly as I would have liked.
i've never pulled a DTRM apart..i can't help with that... you need to pinch the return line between the tank and the HFCM...work quickly...you don't want to dead head the pump for long...i would try pulling the upper fuel filter cap, see how long it takes to fill as it is...then pinch the return line to see if it fills any faster..i checked the manuals and couldn't find an exploded view of that componant..there is this pic in the 6.0 bible..
I am not trying to over simplify this but have you double checked the cap O ring that it did not get damaged or pinched? Did you lube it with oil and torque to spec making sure that it was fully seated?
The recommended 3 cycles of 30 on/ 15 off to drain the air from the system....yeah...about that....3 is not enough. There was a ton of air in the system(oddly no white smoke as I have read about). A friend who is more diesel savvy than I am listened closer to it and we cycled it 7 or 8 times until you could not hear the air bubbles in the system at the HFCM and upper fuel filter.
I do plan on keeping an eye out for a new HFCM to replace it, but for now it is being monitored.
Thanks all for your help.
