more block heater cord help!!

well,
I determined that the heater cord is good, but it wasn't plugged in right. and I can't get it to plug in right.
my receptacle on the block has 2 male prongs. the cord I got has 3 female. I noticed that I can get the outside and inside female on the cord to line up with the block heater male prongs, but can't get it on.
also the block heater has a threaded locking ring provision, and the heater cord has no locking ring. it is supposed to be the factory cord. the one with the heat wrap protection and tabs for the frame rails.
anybody?

I think you might have the wrong cord. If you've got the flat cord, the 2 outside wires are hot and neutral and the center one is the ground.

Concur with Conger. Sounds like the wrong cord. The one you have may be for a gasser or 7.3/6.4. I can't say as I don't know the design of these cords. However, the cord I installed on my 6.0 had two female recepticles and a locking ring. Check out the below link for a photo of the cord that clearly shows the locking ring as well as the routing of the cord.

here is the cord. no locking ring. 3 female connectors in a semi eliptical pattern on orange block heater end. advertised to fit 2003-2007 ford 6.0L
again, the block heater itself has 2 male prongs and provision for the threaded locking ring.
Wrong cord????
where do I get the right one?

It is a little difficult to tell for sure from the picture, but that sure looks like a block heater cord for a gasser based on the end that plugs into the element. The cord you want for the 6.0L is part number 5C3Z-6B018-DA.

Here is a example...
