Where can I purchase the block heater cord without going through a dealer?
I think I found the block heater? Does it have 2 prongs and is it threaded? Maybe a good inch diameter overall? (just above the starter) I have a 2005 6.0 CC If anybody has a picture of the plug cord which gets plugged into the block heater end it would be helpfull to make sure I am looking at the right thing. Thanks!!!
Sorry 07250psd, I must have missed it the other day. Or now that I think about it, I saw it but I was at work so I didn't have my reciept handy, and forgot about it by the time I got home.
My reciept shows list price as $49.36 and net price as $40.20. I paid $40.20, not sure why. I think I might have mentioned I worked for Caterpillar.
I don't technically work for Cat. I work for an engineering outsource firm that does a lot of work for Cat, and I usually work on Cat projects. I spent a year working on the hydraulic systems of the upcoming 793 dump truck, more recently I have been working on some designs for the 836 compactor. Since I have to go on site at different times I have a Cat badge, so I use it every now and then to get discounts (Cat is huge in Peoria since it is their world headquarters).
Wow, looks like the price has gone up a lot. Back in 2005 I paid $17.50 + tax for the cord at an International dealer in Yakima,WA. However, the part number for the cord I got is ZBL3600008
I just bought a cord on ebay for 27.50 shipped to my door, plugged it up, and voila. I haven't used it yet, but I will probably plug it in tonight, just to see.
Just an FYI, I bought my 250 last Feb and the temps were down to the 20's. At that time I hadn't found the heater cord (tucked behind the bumper around the towing eye) but the truck started right up each and every morning without being plugged in....and it stayed outside because my garage is full of "stuff".
