My bk2 has started to develop a very weird issue that i cant seem to figure out.I can drive the truck for up to 20 or 30 minutes and it acts fine, then after i drive for quite some time the truck sporadicly starts acting like something is hooked to the bumper and is holding it back, and if i keep applying gas it will finally catch and haul ***!!!the motor doesnt rev up like the transmission is slipping or anything, its really weird it just wont go but if i keep applying gas it will finally catch up,it still shifts into and out of all gears nice and firm no slippage at all!!!the motor is not missing as i have replacd everything in the igntion system. All this started after i had to replace 3 quarts or tranny fluid that was lost due to a line that i had to remake.I just dont understand how i can drive it 30 min with no problems then it starts acting up.I think im gonna drop the pan change the fluid and the modulator valve and see if that helps....any ideas???
Check the trans. fluid level. Too low or too high is a bad thing. Hopefully, it's not the converter or pump. Not even sure it's trans. related. Might even be a dead spot in the throttle position sensor. Only way to know if there are issues with the sensors or anything computer-related is to pull codes. I used to have what I thought was a dead spot, turned out that the throttle linkage was binding. Who knows. Does sound kind of weird that all of a sudden it started doing this - but it seems possible it might be related to the transmission line repair. I always recommend adding an external cooler to the system on A4LD-equipped vehicles, if for nothing more than keeping the transmission cooler and adding the extra fluid capacity.
Is the problem happening in OD or other gears? MY BII did a something like yours is doing before the OD unit stipped out blowing chuncks through out the tranny. To check it that is what is happening, pull it out of OD and see if problem doen't show. DO NOT DROP IT IN TO 3RD WHILE DRIVING!!! Only if your stopped. I did that and well there was a lockup(vehicle bogged down) when shifting to 3rd, big clank and no gears at all! The OD input basket stripped which cascaded the failure throughout the OD unit. MY wife found out that problem did not show up while in 3rd
its got a new TPS,an external tranny cooler, and it happens sporadicly through all different gears.i went to do my taxes down the road and it acted perfect the entire way there and the entire way back granted it was only a 15 min drive there and back...its the most random problem.its only when ive been driving a VERY long time sometimes almost an hour?????i believe its heat realted i just dont know what the heat is affecting.i was thinking the Ignition module but normally they just got out altogether??its extremely frustrating,at least if i mash the pedal down further it picks up and goes,+im sooooo glad my new bronco im building is a M5OD ,im giving this one to the fiance.
Hmm. Brings up some possibilities. The TFI module doesn't usually throw codes when its going out. I'll suggest pulling codes - I'm starting to think the MAF or ECT or IAT sensor might be acting a little funny, but you could also have a loose connection somewhere throwing things off. Then again, could still be trans-related. Wondering if the fluid loss could have caused anything. Might want to check your fluid level in the trans, and probably wouldn't hurt to do a fluid and filter change.
