So...I've been lucky with either ??? What's the recomended replacement product?
on a diesel the replacement product would be to figure out why the truck won't start on it's own power. you should not use starting fluid on diesels at all unless it's an absolute emergency.. on a diesel with glowplugs turn the key on and let the glow plugs cycle until they turn off. then give it a little spray on the filter and start it.. EMERGENCY ONLY!!!

You were VERY lucky with the ether because your GP's were not functioning at all.
If you find a need to use it, Wait for 4-5 minutes after the key has been turned 'on'
The GP's can burn for 2 minutes even after the WTS light goes out. Wait a couple minutes more to let them cool down.
Then shoot the ether and fire it up.

I dunno about that...I'll be gettin' the 903 when I need to replace mine...something about 12volt compared to 15 Volt on a 14 Volt system...your mileage could vary...))
