I already have the 6637 in hand because it's waht I keep on the shelf for my own truck. Thanks for the offer, Andrew.
I've made several covers for Stage 1 elements for bnoth teh 6.0 and 7.3, but I don't have either element for either making sure my final product pattern is right on the money or test fit the covers before they ship. I'm still working on an Airraid cover for Chris Thomas, but am working from meqasurements and pictures and that particular element is a real booger with varied ovals and tapers in almost every direction.
It's a whole lot easier to make a cover pattern with teh actual element in hand, and it also gives me a "test dummy" so I can check every cover before it goes out for fit and appearance... I can't stand the thought of sending out a crummy fitting cover because I think a baggy fit is just crappy... it's not the way I work! I would rather have the right "test dummies" on hand so I don't end up having someone waiting a long time (can be months) while I'm figuring out how to make the thing fit together just right.
Also, I've had requests for other element style covers, but the process has come to a stop almost every time when I reply back with "I need to get you to measure this, and that, and this way, and that way, etc.". I've been meaning to do this (request old elements) for some time now, but a man can only do so much at any given time, and it's taken me this long to get it to this point.
Pete, I sure understand what you are going through. I am so happy for you with what you have done so far. I hope you get what you ask for as far as the filters. I am still waiting to hear that you got the goverment contract for the filters in the sandy conditions.
Pete, you are one of a kind, keep this up brother.
Thank you, Rick... You and several others have been my primary sources for advertising for my covers, and you'll never know how much of a difference it has made. Sometimes, though, I begin t think it's almost beginning to get too big to handle, and I know it cannot ever be big enough to ever come close to replacing my "real job", so I'm trying to work smarter to keep it from chiselling too far into into family time. My daughter has become a quite proficient seamstress, and she is helping more with some of the packaging efforts, and my wife has picked up some of my slack in taking care of mailing the packages while I've been out of town, and my 16 year old son is helping me make filter models (test dummies) on his wood lathe when we get enough details to do so... a real family effort that is benefiting us all.
So far, and I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable with this, I've seen God use this repeatedly to fill the ****** in our family budget at critical times when normal cash flow did not match up with all the extra doctor bills, etc. I've been able to do pressure few mods like I had planned initially, but I'm really OK with that. Just this past weekend I received a large bulk-order (large for me, anyway - 40 covers!) that was just in time to cover all the recent maintenance on both my truck and Excursion. I am an extremely fortunate individual, and as long as I see God using it to benefit my family and meet our needs, I'm going to try to keep handling the time demands more efficiently and responsibly, which is, again, where these used filter elements really come into the picture.
Oh... I need to say, too, that I had no intention of using this thread as a means of advertising, which is why I tried to restrict my initial post to directing things towards my classifieds ad. I hope no one gets the wrong impression.
