like the title says im going to make the floor pans from scratch, just wondering if others have done this and how ti came out ? pics would be good...im just wondering about bracing mainley...
I made my own floor pans, but ordered the under brackets from midfidty. The rocker panels I ordered new and the cab mounting brackets are new. I made the under side pieces for the cab corners. The cab door mounts I also put in new. All this makes the cab allot stronger.
Made our own panels for the passenger side floor. Used some heavier metal because the old floor was so rotted it was starting to make the cab spread. For the driver's side, we're probably going to just get the pre-made piece from LMC. I'll try to put up a few pics this weekend.
If you have to replace both sides of the floor EMS makes a one piece panel that is cheaper than the two individual panels.
One note about replacing floor panels. Before cutting anything out, brace the entire cab in every possible position, doors, across the cab, to prevent the cab from losing it's shape. Once you weld and the dimensions change it's going to be next to impossible to make everything line up.
Listen to what Bob says about alot of braceing. I thought i had enuff brace but when it came time.... NOPE. Well i learned the hard way, so learn from others!!! BRACE MORE than you think.

Right on Bob. I have found that old bed frames make wonderfull bracing material. Theye are cheap and seem to be better tempered and less susceptable to bending by bumping them which ultimately leads to changes. However, I have found that some cabs are so rotted out that the original measurements are lost so it's a good ides to get the cab back to that state before bracing.
I am making the patch panels for the floor of my 59. Only needed to replace a small area that is mostly flat, so I figured I could get it done. I also made the repair pieces for my front cab mounts.
thanx for all the advice guys! well as far as the floor goes ive looked at the stock replacements and i dont know that they are going to work for me since im body dropping it on an s10 frame im gong to need a trans tunel and different mount spots....so today i got to shinney new sheets of metal to make the pans...as far as bracing befor cutting the old floor was so far gone that nothing really lined up anyway, so my thought was to brace it and fit the doors back to square then weld up the pans i make...
