After replacing distributor cap, rotor, spark plug and wire's we started the engine. After a couple minutes the engine stalled and we have not been able to get it started again. We know that were getting spark to the sparkplugs and we even tried a little ether but no luck. Any suggestions will be tried.
Thanks
Kel
Sounds like you may be resurrecting a vintage ride here.
Was it running ok before the work?????
How is the fuel pressure????
If it's not right, pull the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail & check for fuel in it's vacuum line, if you find any, suspect it's diaphragm is bad & replace the FPR.
If you think the FPR is ok, check the fuel filter, it could be clogged.
If thats ok, back up to the fuel pump/s & make sure their working & the lines are clear.
How is the fuel quality???
You say it has spark, but is it a good blue/hot spark, that has "snap"????
If not, check system grounds & the battery voltage under load.
Some thoughts for pondering. Let us know what you find.
if its been a sittin awhile you could drop the gas tank or siphen out the gas if it is old gas because alot of times it is hard to start or wont start at all if there is old gas in it i know it sounds like it could be to simple to be the problem but it could be or see if your fuel filter is plugged or see if you are even getting gas up to the motor good luck!
In response to whether it ran before the replacement of the plugs, cap, rotor and wires, the answer is it hadn't run as the battery was dead and it was decided to give it a minor tune up before we tried starting it. We have syphomed out the tank and replaced it with new gas also.
still trying..........
