My son has a 1993 Bronco , 5.8. It died today, the motor will turn over, but not start. I thought it was the fuel pump, I did the mod to access the pump, removed the cover and pinned it for power. If I force the relay closed the pump runs fine. Still will not start with the relay closed manually. I checked for spark, no spark either. It seems the fuel pump relay is not closing, and I get no spark, (i slaved in a new coil to try it, no luck) I have power at the relay socket (fuel), but it will not cycle. When we tried to short the coil lead, no spark while turning it over, It sparks once when you release the key from start. (it does this everytime) . Any Ideas...
I checked the inertia switch, it was good.
There is no fuel pressure in the rail. , but that goes along with the pump not running,
I did not ck the PCM Relay . Do you know which relay. ( I know which one is for the Fuel) Also been reading about the PCM in these years burning up. Any one else have this type of condition?
Also, did not ck for codes, I do not have a scanner. but I might have to get one.
Update, when I tried to get the codes, I shorted the cel connector as required and the fuel pump started working. It still will not start, but the pump runs all the time now. I did disconnect the spout connector and truck tried to start. hook it back up and we get no spark still. Going to try a TFI.
