Does anyone have any experience with or know of any after market tailgates. Mine was stolen last week. Also, is it true that you should NOT run gateless unless your bed is braced in some way?

When you get a new gate - buy a worm gear radiator hose clamp large enough to go around the bottom hinge on the pass. side (the one that has the slot). Wrap it around there and position the head to where you can only reach it with a wrench and not with a screwdriver. This way the gate cannot be removed without removing the worm gear clamp with a wrench and most likely this will deter someone from stealing your gate.

Don't know what your use is but I needed a tailgate and decided to go to eBay and buy a used hydraulic liftgate (150.00). Painted it to match the truck and have been trilled since. My wife dosen't like it, brings way too much stuff home.

I put an electric tail gate lock on mine. look at truckgadgets.com and they are real easy to install
