Question Best Rust Remover?

Hey fellas,
I'm just stopping in to ask, which brand of rust remover would you recommend? I'm prying at some hood hinges on a 1961 F100 that I picked up and could use something to free them up a bit.

I'm used to fighting rust with a wire brush and a grinding wheel but I need a little something extra to free these hinges up. I've heard WD-40, PB'laster, and a few home brewed ideas but I want to know which would work best from your experience. Thanks in advance!

I can vouch for the spray on stuff believe it or not, my turbo that I sold not too long ago was cleaned up pretty well, but I can't remember which type of stuff was used!

I've heard some very good things about Aero Kroil, but have never tried it. You have to order it direct...

wd40 is a water displacing agent. that is what the wd in the name stands for.

PB BLASTER works very good.

True but it still works well......Water Displacement-40 (it took the inventors 40 tries to get it right).....

In my opinion, WD 40 is great for freeing up frozen locks that have ice in them.

PB Blaster rocks when you need to break loose rusted bolts.
If PB Blaster won't loosen it up, torch time.

Never tried the Kroil, but I here it is great also.

PB Blaster is the best thing I've ever used for automotive/industrial/equipment use.

I've used Kroil A LOT for/in my Gun/Gunsmithing shop and it's great for certain things but it doesn't seem to do much to rust. Especially heavy rust.
It's an AWESOME penetrating oil though in the true sense of the term. I had a can of AeroKroil rupture so I poured it in a Rubbermaid/Tupperware container and it went THROUGH it! It didn't melt a hole or anything it actually went THROUGH it.

I also use it to clean high-velocity rifle bores. It seems to get under the copper fouling and help you remove it with the aid of JB Bore Paste.

I only know of two proven rust removers

1. Grinder with a wire brush

2. Cutting torch

Nah, I'm sure that there are some good removers out there, but here in Texas, we really don't worry about rust.

Kroil is about as good as it gets. It is not a rust remover. It's a penetrating oil. And it does just that, better than anything else on the market.

The next best is Penetro 90 from Schaeffer Manufacturing Company

Oops, I just realized you were wanting a penetrating oil rust remover, I was thinking surface/body rust remover

I agree PB blaster works, but you need to let it soak for days for extremely rusted bolts

Also a 50/50 ATF Acetone mix has worked very well for me.

My grandfather claims that if you heat a bolt up pretty hot, then take a candle and smash it on it, the hot bolt sucks in wax and makes it easier to take off

i have used the parifin wax deal before, and it works pretty good. but it is easier to just spray it with pb 3 or 4 times before trying to remove it.

Actually I had a very hard time not saying a sand blaster with Black Beauty loaded in the hopper.

But I was able to contain myself for 6 days with a little concentration.
