Window weatherstripping.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-Jan-03 AT 06:32 PM (EST)]I've got a 78F250 and am looking for the outside weatherstripping that runs between the door and window. I went to the Ford dealer and he looked up the parts on the old microfish, seems anything older than 81 is'nt on Ford's computer- up here in Canada anyway. I got the pieces that go in the door 66.00 for the door frame and 53.00 for the piece in the vent window NOS stock. Outrageous price for a few feet of rubber. Nobody nowhere can get the one's in the door by the window. Ford P/N# D3TZ*1021452A and 3A. I was just wondering if anybody out there knows of a aftermarket manufacturer that makes these parts, in the States I thought they would probabally be ten times the companies. If anyone has any info please drop me a line.
Thanks.

Window weatherstripping.

I am also in need of replacing the door and vent window weatherstripping. How is that stripping attached ? Is it done by glue, or is there some kind of anchoring pin/plug in the door channel?

The '80-96 vent window rubber is one piece and just wraps around the frame. You have to pull the vent window from the door and disassemble it to change the rubber, but I think it's easier & cheaper to buy a whole junkyard window.

Window weatherstripping.

I'm a novice at auto work of any kind, so the easier the better for me. I have an "84" 150 pick up and water keeps getting into the cab. I was hoping to be able to replace both the window and vent on both sides. Am I taking on more than a rookie can handle? My other option is to take it to a profeesional, but I would like to start learning to repair things myself. Any suggestions? Any idea of the cost if I were to take it to a shop?
