Can an aftermarket aircleaner cause the turbo to fart more and can this cause other problems? Can the turbo veins start sticking if the turbo does this? Reason: I have installed two types of aftermarket filters the first on was from Banks. After reading about you shouldnt use an oiled filter due to the fact it could cause a dusting affect I put on the OEM for a while and then Amsoil came out with a new filter thru Enjin. Bought it,installed it.liked it,but now I have a lot of Turbo farting when I let off of the pedal hard. Also around 2250 rpm the engine seems to miss-fire or stuters only when the engine is hot. Checked EGR (installed new one) still getting it. Now I removed the aircleaner went back to OEM and I have yet had the problem......maybe havent gotten up to right temp. But could these filters be causing these problems. If anyone wants a Banks aircleaner (cheap) let me know.
I have a Jobe Performance Cold Air Intake. Mine does the same thing, and yes, it can cause damage to the turbo. My advice is do what I did...at first it was cool, but now I try everything I can to prevent it from happening. You can also get a turbo blow off valve that will exhaust the air to prevent the back pressure. They run around $650, but that's cheaper than a new turbo.
and unless you making 500RWH or more stock filter is the best for the job. and no problems. dont replace it untill your filter minder starts to move.
and filters are 60$ on flebay. get the OEM ones the ones with blue core not the white ones....
