Ive got 3.73s open diff in my 8.8 and im puttin 4.10s with a aussie locker. will i have to get a 3.90 and up carrier or can i use the stock one (or will a spacer on the stock one work)
the 8.8 doesnt have a carrier break like the front D44. so you can upgrade the rear ring&pinion with out changing the carrier. especially if that carrier is an open carrier to accept the lunchbox locker. if you had a limited slip out back then a new open carrier would be required.
Now mac your also changing out the front also right. what size tires are you running? can you fill out your signature in the control panel area so we know more about your rig.
Good catch. Too many Dana builds, too few 8.8s. You are correct, 8.8 does not need a carrier swap. Although, it's it's a limited slip carrier, it's the weakest thing ever made. Going with a drop in on these is a disaster waiting to happen.
I've never seen an Aussie locker. He said it was a luchbox one. So, I figured it was the same as a Lok-rite or Detroit E-Z. Those are referred to as lunch box lockers as well. Theyre called drop-in, because that's about all you need to do, pull the axles out a bit and drop them in. If it's something different....
Roger that on the 8.8 axle tube. A good truss and a weld or two at the diff cuff is always a good idea.
so do i need the ring spacer or no? both open diffs. yes front and rear kit. 90 Bronco 302 w/5spd, 33s rite now but maybe 34 or 35s later on. im gonna have the axle tubes welded, my buddy had his welded on his mustang and its got way more hp/tq.
if your gonna end up with 35's then go with the 4.56 gears now or 4.88's for that matter, i really like mine with the 35's.
get the install instructions from aussie locker, they have awesome tech support.
(NWBronco) yes aussie locker is a lunchbox locker. hi highly recommend you look into this locker. it has a lifetime warranty, no tire size requirement and basicly outshines the other lunchbox lockers out there.
