SO i found a set of axles from a 79 f150 both the 9' rear and the dana 44 front, would the gears from the dana swap into my 1995 f 150 dana 44 TTB and would the " bolt in place of the stock 8.8. The axles that are for sale have 3.55's and my truck has 3.08's The axles are pretty cheap, in fact cheaper then buying two sets of gears.
Dana 44 and Ford 9" gear sets are not interchangeable. The Dana 44 has a ring gear that is 8.5" and the Ford uses a, well, 9" ring gear. You could use both axles and fabricate mounts to fit your truck if you have (or have access to) the know-how and the tools. This gives you that SAS that is so sought after by many hardcore 4 wheelers! You would, though, also need to provide an alternate means of obtaining a speed sensor circuit since the 9" does not have provision for such. If you do this take plenty of pics & give us a write up!
Yes I know that the 8.8 and 9 are different, I was wondering if the dana 44 straight axle gear set out of a 79 will work in the dana 44 TTB front axle set in my 1995?

After a short, quick search. Yes, gears will interchange between a solid axle d44 and a TTB d44. Try the search function next time please.
P.S. - (For the rear end) you would still have to either convert to the ford 9", or buy a new ring & pinion with all the goodies to match the gear ratio.
I love the search function and use it almost everyday, my problem is I am not very good at using the search to get very specific results. Any tips or tricks?

Ah I understand, I have the same problems sometimes. Try to use more general terms/phrases instead of exact specifics. Sometimes that helps me get the answers I am looking for. Also, try to avoid long phrases, as most of the words usually get ignored anyways.
What do you plan to use for a VSS to run the speedometer/odometer? That same signal also goes to the PCM to control the transmission if you have an E4OD or 4R70W.

X2. This is why alot of people put a 10.25 rear axle under their pickup instead of a 9".
Truck has the m50d 5 speed and 3.08 gears. Wanting to do lower gears, 3.55 or 3.73 and found this set of axles cheaper then you can buy two gear sets. SAS was not in the cards right now, maybe down the line.
find any 90-96 F150/bronco that had a 5.0 or 5.8 and grab the entire rear 8.8 and the front TTB D44 pumpkin and swap that way. thats the great thing about the TTB up front its just like swaping a 9" third member. no gear setup necessary at all.
the 3.55 gearing is so common its not even funny, you should be able to pick up both as i mentioned for under $200.
if you pull the solid d44 gears you will spend $300-$400 having them reset up in your TTB third member. way to much work, time and money in my opinion.

X2 on this idea! If you can pickup that 44/9" for a song it might be worth stacking them on the side of the garage for that SAS down the road though too! Seems you'd be able to run a VSS off the transfer case for the computer/ tranny inputs in order to swap the 9" in. This is how the early EFI rigs came equipped anyway and what us Early Bronco guys do when going EFI. I've got several VSSs off late 80s Broncos and F-150s that came right out of the BW transfercase.
