I was wanting to know what P/S column will work in my 72 F100. I started with 3 parts truck a 67,70,and 72. All were picked apart and i'm now trying to make one. I used the 70 frame and converted it to disc's and i've put a good solid 70 Ranger cab on. I now need a steering column. It will have a 302 with a C6.
If you are using the Ford power steering any 73-79 with like gear shifting that came from truck with power steering will work. Doesn't matter 100/150/250 and probably 350.
Thanks on the response. Now how do i know what steering box i have? I've got 2 and they look the same to me. Are there numbers to tell or do they say Ford,Bendix. Like i said i'm pieceing this truck by books and info.
I believe that one is out of a 72 F100 4 X 2 and the other is a 70 i'm really not sure. There are numbers on both boxes. I've put the cab on frame and i want to rebuild box while it's easy to get to. I got the truck dismantled and empty of alot of parts. It also has a cooler line. I wouldn't have a hard time if it was a whole truck, but i guess for the price it is a good project.
Walt the lines go in top on the column side of the gear. I'm certain someone will get this straight but the 2 bolt vs 4 bolt top cap should be enough for ID.
60F100 That isn't a big issue, I run a 76 column in my 66. The wires can be figured out in less than an hour.

Correct me if I'm wrong. I have aquired a couple f250 2wd over the past year. I noticed that they both had different steering column lengths. Also, I'm not sure that 73-75 will not work in 67-72is that true?

What year F250's would those columns be?
Cannot answer whether the 1973/77 columns will work or not on 1967/72's, swaps are not my forte.
I can walk around your truck and rattle off every part number from memory, but swapping parts is another thing.
Seafire, I deal in SWAPS. There are only two column lengths from 65-79. The longer works with non power steering and the Bendix power gear.
The shorter column works with the Ford/Saginaw box. The total over length is the same for both systems. The fluid intake on the Ford gear moves the connection point closer to the firewall resulting in the column shaft to be about 2 1/3 in. shorter.
I run a 76 column in my 66. My truck started out 3spd. armstrong, converted to PS C6.
